Hi all,
An exciting CI Think meeting was held on the 14th July to discuss the value of Sport for Development. We all concurred that it was important to continue the discussion and move from 'CI Think', to 'CI Do', by coming up with some concrete ways in which we can use our pooled ideas and knowledge to make a change.
We discussed the particular case of Ahmedabad Ultimate- an organisation that uses Ultimate Frisbee as a means towards development, as well as hearing about other organisations who tread a similar path. Such activities improve confidence, leadership, and teamwork skills, and can provide numerous other benefits such as conflict resolution skills, community cohesion and tolerance.
Are these projects the best way to create 'development'?
Do they alleviate poverty (directly or indirectly)?
How can we measure their outcomes?
How could we collaborate to help a project like Ahmedabad Ultimate grow and reach more people?
This is a space to follow up on these questions and others that emerged, and feel free to follow up specific questions in a new thread altogether. If you couldn't attend, please still feel free to ask questions or contribute your thoughts.
Updates will be coming soon to the the 'blog' and 'photo' sections!
Best, Samina
